Working With Me
Information About Therapy
Mental healthcare, also known as therapy or psychotherapy, can be a powerful process for change and healing. Finding a connection with a provider that understands your unique needs and feels like a good fit can be difficult, but it is often a critical part of receiving services that are effective.
I work collaboratively with you to create a safe, intimate, non-judgemental space where we can explore troublesome issues and develop new ways of being that promote healing and positive change. I am always transparent about the process and I include you to guide the course of therapy, as you are the expert of your own life. I offer clinical experience and training which can generate new insights and skills to help you achieve your goals.
Developing a level of comfort that allows you to be authentic and share your deepest thoughts and feelings is not always easy. If you are interested in getting mental health support but don't feel comfortable working with me after our phone consultation or first meeting I am always happy to refer you to another mental health provider. I want to work with you to get the best support you can get.
Once you contact me for a free phone consultation I will arrange a time to speak with you. If we determine there is a good match between us, we then discuss our fee or your insurance benefits and arrange a time for our first meeting at my office or via my secure telehealth platform.
Confidentiality is a core part of therapy and is essential to forming trust and a positive working relationship. Exceptions to confidentiality include: if you present as a danger to yourself or others, if you disclose any elder, child, or dependent adult abuse, if there is an emergency medical situation, if you initiate legal proceedings where your mental capacity is material to the case. Otherwise, I maintain your privacy and documentation using current Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) standards.
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length for individuals, and 80 minutes for romantic partners and families. If working with a romantic partnership or a family I may see an individual member of the romantic partnership or family for one or more sessions depending on your needs. I typically arrange sessions on a weekly basis during the same time slot. I require 24 hours notice for cancellations or you may be charged for the session.
My rates are: $220 for 50 minutes of therapy, $260 for 80 minutes of therapy.
I offer some slots on my caseload for those with the following insurance plans: Optum/United Healthcare and Aetna. I can provide a super bill for potential reimbursement from other insurance plans as an out of network provider.
I offer some sliding scale slots as low as $50 per session dependent on your household income, please contact me for more information.
I accept personal checks, money orders, and debit and credit cards including FSA/HSA.
